BENEFITS OF
COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE
01
REDUCED RATES
Two aspects allow for a reduction in rates. First, by treating multiple individuals at the same time and in the same space, we can reduce individual fees. Second, through using an approach in treatment where we have individuals in a seated position and where we utilize points on the arms, legs and head only, we can access all the points needed for treatment at the same time, which allows us to reduce treatment time while still having the needles in place for an effective amount of time. This reduced treatment time allows for a reduced individual fee.
02
GREATER ACCOMODATION IN SCHEDULING
Meridians' Community Acupuncture is designed, through its time-and-space-shared setup, with flexibility, accommodation and access in mind. Treatment time options and duration allow individuals to better fit treatment into their busy schedules. Further, the Meridians' Community Acupuncture design makes accommodations in bookings possible for those unexpected emergency treatment requests, such as when acute injury occurs, or chronic conditions flare up.
03
More Feasible Treatment Course
With reduced rates and better flexibility, accommodation and reliability in scheduling, it is more feasible and realistic to adhere to suggested treatment frequency, and course of treatment.
How Does it Work
STEP 1: One starts their community acupuncture experience off by contacting Meridians Acupuncture with interest in treatment through community acupuncture.
STEP 2: Meridians Acupuncture offer a selection of dates and times for an initial consult by phone. This initial phone consult is expected to take around 30minutes of your time. As community acupuncture is given in a semi-public setting, the initial phone consult's purpose is to, in a private manner, gather all necessary health information and to answer all questions. Once a date and time has been determined, Meridians Acupuncture will send some basic forms by email for you to fill out and return by email before your initial consult by phone.

STEP 3: Your Initial Consult by phone will take place. During this 30min period, questions will be asked surrounding your history of health and the current issue you are seeking treatment for. It is also the time to discuss informed consent, the procedure for community acupuncture, what to expect with treatment, and to ask and have answered any questions you may have. At the end of your initial consult by phone a location, date and time for your first community acupuncture treatment will be established. There will be forms for you to fill in and return before, or upon arrival for, treatment.

STEP 4: You will arrive for treatment on the date and time and at the location discussed during your initial phone consult. Here you will go through the arrival process and take a seat. The practitioner will be with you shortly and will go through the second part of the initial consult, the assessment portion that must be done in person.

STEP 5: After the in-person part of the initial consult, the practitioner will administer treatment. Treatment at community acupuncture is always given in a seated position and needles are inserted into areas on the arms, legs, hands, feet and head. After the needles are inserted, you relax with the needles in for a duration determined by the practitioner, based on the condition and your response to treatment (treatment time in community acupuncture is on average a 30min experience).

STEP 6: When the treatment time has concluded, the practitioner will come and remove the needles. There may be a post assessment and other suggestions given. Suggested treatment frequency and course will be discussed and confirmed during this time. From here you will go through the exiting process.

RETURNING VISITS: Essential, repeat steps 4-6. There will be opportunity to schedule your next visit (and any number of re-occuring visits) during the arrival and/or exiting process. One can also schedule subsequent visits through the website, email or phone/text options. After completing a course of treatment, discussed and confirmed during your initial visit (usually somewhere between 4-8 treatments), the practitioner will touch base via phone once again to discuss progress and further treatment.
